ABOUT RILKE AND THE ONE MILLION WORDS PROJECT

Ivo Müller, actor and producer, is developing a solo theater project based on the works of poet Rainer Maria Rilke. The project, titled Rilke – A Million Words, dives into the significance of Rilke’s writing, particularly his letters, for the creative process and life in general. Müller is seeking funding and partnerships to bring the production to life, which explores themes such as love, the creative journey, belonging, and the value of the present moment. The project RILKE – A Million Words is seeking funding for the production of the third and final version of the play about the poet. Rilke, a 20th-century poet, remains a powerful influence in contemporary society and culture. His work resonates widely, appreciated by audiences that include artists, educators, philosophers, and general readers alike. For example, actress Lady Gaga has a Rilke tattoo on her arm, and director Taika Waititi included a Rilke quote in his film Jojo Rabbit. Rilke’s impact extends beyond literature, inspiring diverse forms of art and expression.

The play RILKE by actor and producer Ivo Müller is a testament to this influence. This play, based on Rilke’s works, delves into themes such as love, the creative journey, the feeling of not belonging, and the importance of being present in the moment. These themes were as relevant in Rilke’s time as they are today, highlighting the timelessness of his work.

Rilke’s Letters to a Young Poet, written in his youth, holds particular significance. Ivo Müller has shared that this book deeply influenced his path as an artist, father, and human being. The first version of Müller’s play, Letters to a Young Poet, was inspired by this work and was performed from 2010 to 2013.

The ongoing relevance of Rilke and his impact on contemporary artists like Ivo Müller underscore his lasting importance to society and culture.
